CREOL, The College of Optics & Photonics is recognized as one of the top three independent optics academic departments in the nation. The College offers interdisciplinary graduate programs leading to MS and Ph.D.degrees in Optics. CREOL, The Center for Research and Education in Optics and Lasers, FPCE, the Florida Photonics Center of Excellence, and the Townes Laser Institute are research centers within the college. The College of Optics & Photonics has grown to an internationally recognized institute with 29 faculty members, 14 faculty with joint appointments, 9 faculty with courtesy appointments, and 5 emeritus professors, 54 research scientists and 160 graduate students with research activities covering all aspects of optics, photonics, and lasers, including lasers, fiber optics, semiconductor and integrated photonic devices, nonlinear and quantum optics, and imaging science. The College is housed in a state-of-the-art 104,000 sq. ft. building dedicated to optics research and education.
