Florida Institute of Technology is an independent, major research institution with more than 10,000 students. Florida Tech conducts over $40 million dollars in funded research in a wide variety of disciplines. One area in particular is Optics and Photonics; which research projects range from fiber-optic sensor systems and non-invasive glucose monitoring to optical tomography systems using short pulse lasers for early cancer detection and subsequent ablation of tumors.
